2. Noble County Community Foundation changes the name of the Taylor Scholarship fund to the Noble County Community Foundation Scholarship Fund.
The Noble County Community Foundation's Board of Directors at their regular meeting on July 25, 2011 agreed to rename the former Glen B. Taylor Scholarship Fund as the Noble County Community Foundation (NCCF) Scholarship Fund.
The NCCF took this action to both more accurately define the sources and uses of the scholarship fund and to encourage additional donations and bequests to the fund.
Founded as a loan program more than 20 years ago, the NCCF worked with Peoples Bank and the Noble County Common Pleas Court to convert the Taylor Scholarship from a loan program to a true scholarship fund. Since the change, the NCCF has awarded four scholarships totaling $2,500 to graduates of Caldwell and Shenandoah High Schools.
The NCCF Scholarship Fund received a substantial donation when the assets of the former Edmund James Scholarship Fund were added to the NCCF Scholarship Fund in 2009.
Since the NCCF began operating the former Taylor Scholarship fund, its cash assets have grown from $48,946.59 to $84,235.98. The amount of the annual scholarships has also grown from $500 to $750. Winners of the scholarship to date have included Caldwell graduates Brooke Zerger and Nicholas Warren and Shenandoah graduates John Jacob Peer and Jordan Dimmerling.
NCCF board president, Judy McMullen, said "The change of name reflects the desire of the Board of Directors of the Noble County Community Foundation to have this scholarship serve countywide and to honorably reflect the various sources of donations made to it. We hope to build on the trust shown to us by the Taylor and James Scholarships to continue to build this fund into the preeminent scholarship for Noble County students."
